It's the scouts again. This will be the second wood to be planted nearby by the Scout Association. (See Clubs - Orwell Scouts.) Orwell Scouts and some other local scouts will be among those planting trees on Saturday 10th November 10.00 - 12.00am and 1.00 - 3.00pm. Comberton Scouts also have a busy day. They will be washing cars at the Eversden Recreation Ground Afternoon on the same day. (See What's On) (Where's the wood? Clue: the water towers are behind the camera. The church is St Mary's.) |

"During 2007 the Woodland Trust have teamed up with The Scout Association to offer all Scouts the chance to plant trees as part of the 2007 centenary celebrations and our own Tree For All campaign. With the help of The Scout Association we will plant at least 100 Centenary Groves – these will be new areas of native woodland, each made up of thousands of trees. We will provide a 2 hour session consisting of tree planting and time permitting, environmental games and activities. Experience has shown that these practical sessions engage children in unique ways that are both memorable and significant. They go away exhilarated, understanding that woods are special places and take pride in the new wood they have just helped to create." The Woodland Trust. |
