"Exploring Eversden Wood"

"Vince Lea and I 'discovered' Eversden wood when we volunteered to do a Woodcock survey for the British Trust for Ornithology, and this was the wood we were allocated.  Various bird surveys and ad-hoc visits later found us spending several nights in the wood with John Dawson, the county Moth recorder, with the owner's permission, to study the moths. This article is the result of that venture.  We are, as an aside, volunteer wardens for Hardwick Wood for the Wildlife Trust, where active management for wildlife through coppice has been re-instated. Survey of many aspects of woodland fauna and flora occupies much of our time when we aren't working or producing sustainable woodland products from Hardwick for sale to raise money for the Trust."  16th September 2008
