A meeting of the Parish Council was held in the Village Hall on 14th July 2008 at 8pm.

 

            Apologies from Mrs Hobbs

 

Present Mrs Handley, Mr Huddleston, Mrs Connolly, Mr White, Mrs Pritchard, Mr Kilker, Mr Blatch, Mr Tebbit and, in the Chair, Mr Dalton

 

Minutes of the meeting held on 2nd and 23rd June were approved and signed

 

 

Matters arising from the Minutes

 

1          Nixon's Hall Tablet. This is being repaired.

 

            Land Registration of Parish Property.  This is in hand.

 

            Hedge in Lowfields In the hands of the County Council. Clerk to write again.

 

Hedge at 2 Wheeler's Way  No change. Mr Kilker offered to look into this

 

            Road at St Helen's Transfer.  This is in the hands of the solicitors.

 

            Allotment tidying  Mrs Pritchard had spoken to Mrs Clemmow and it is hoped that some action will take place shortly

 

            Dog Waste Bin  A request has been made to SCDC for the provision of a bin. The location and required information given.

 

            Training Sessions  Consideration to be deferred for six months

 

2          Planning Procedures.  It was proposed that planning procedures should be revised.  Since plans are now available on the SCDC web-site and can be downloaded, it was suggested that SCDC should be asked if the copyright on the original plans was still in force.

 

3           Standing Orders.  The Advisory sub-committee will report at the next full meeting.

 

4           Housing The Chairman reported that planning permission had been given for the low cost housing scheme at Low Close on Harlton Road.  A request had been made for a preservation order on the trees and hedges at the roadside.  The screening strip to the west remains in the possession of Mr Ellis and will be treated as a wild life haven.

 

5          Freedom of Information  A draft had been circulated to all members for consideration. It was agreed to adopt the draft with the addition in Section 1 of the words 'Application to view information may be made to either of the above persons' and the correct date etc in Section 4

 

 

 

6          Police Liaison

 22nd July Meeting on Speeding at Sawston Village College.  Mr Kilker agreed to attend and Mrs Pritchard may suggest another person to accompany him.

Also a further, regular liaison meeting on 23rd July at 19.30. at Barrington.

 

7          Village Plan  Mr White reported a successful exhibition at the Church Fete Suggestions were put forward for better bus services, cycle paths, speed-limits and regretting the lack of a shop.

 

8          Finance.

9          Planning

            West Peak developments Ltd.  16 Lowfields. Erection of two dwellings

            Withdrawn

 

10        Reports from Councillors Although both the District and County Councillors had hoped to attend, the meeting ended before their arrival

 

11        Correspondence.  In circulation.

 

            Mr White reported that further work had been done on the exterior of the Village Hall.  The exterior has been repainted, a kitchen window replaced and some sills repaired, pediment arch timber restored, broken window panes replaced, the gutters and down-pipe cleaned and surrounding saplings cut down.
