Little Eversden Parish Meeting. At this meeting questions were
raised about development on OSP 148 and on the Harlton Road Site, planting trees
around the mast area and the possibility of obtaining a ban on lorries passing
through the villages if the CEMEX scheme is accepted. It was pointed out that no
planning application had yet been submitted for the Harlton Road Site, but that
it had been proposed to SCDC as a possible site that was available for
consideration as suitable for low-cost housing. The question of a need for a
Community Transport Scheme was also raised.
7
Street Lights. Notification had been received from the District
Council stating that they were taking responsibility for the replacement and
insurance of these lights.
8
Recycling of aluminium cans. Miss Sach raised the question about
the rent required for the container at the Recreation Field, and asked what
would happen in the future. Cl. Mrs Heazell agreed to make enquiries.
9
Affordable Housing. Discussion took place with residents on the
question of OSP 148 as a possible site for low-cost housing. Objections were
raised by residents in Great Eversden. The question of the site on the Harlton
Road was again raised by a resident of Little Eversden. Cl. Mrs Heazell
confirmed that there was a serious need for affordable homes in rural villages
and that the last survey had revealed firm figures of a need for 21 houses in
the Eversdens. She said that SCDC was working closely with Parish Councils to
identify sites for consideration by the Development Department.
Finally it was resolved to hold a public meeting for residents of both
villages so that they could express their views fully.
Proposed by Mr White and seconded by Miss Sach.
10
The Hoops. The fate of the sign. It is understood that the hanging
sign is still in position with the elephant signs over it. The Hoops sign on the wall is missing. Mr Tebbit raised a question regarding the status of the
public house. Agreed to write to the licensing department of SCDC to ask them to
clarify the position.
11
Coffee Mornings. Mrs
Handley reported that the mornings continued to be well-supported with some 40
people attending. It had been possible to make a donation to the Recreation
Field in addition to the small amount given to cover expenses for the use of the
pavilion.
12
Land Registry. Registration
of title for Parish Council property. The Recreation Field is registered, but
the Village Hall, and Village Sign area need to be checked. The Chairman agreed
to respond to the Land Registry
13
Community Transport. There is a
question whether a formal scheme for this is needed in the Eversdens. Cl.
Mrs Heazell spoke about the scheme in Harlton and Haslingfield, but thought it
would be better for the Eversdens not to join that scheme because of the
additional mileage it would entail. It was agreed that the Parish Council should
continue to find out if there is a need for this and whether there would be a
volunteer to organise it if necessary.
14
Proposed Election Changes. There is a proposal to change the way
the District Council is elected. At
present 1/3 are elected annually and the proposal is to abandon this scheme and
elect all members every three years. Public comment is invited.
15
Speed Camera on A603 Agreed
to write to the Transport Dept of the County Council asking them to restore the
speed camera on the A603 which has been damaged since last December
16
Barn up Quarry Road. The open door had now been repaired. Mention
was made of motor cycles using Quarry Road and mast area. This should be
reported to the police by the public when offenders are on the site.
9
CEMEX proposals It
was reported that there was a possibility of CEMEX delaying or withdrawing their
present scheme at Barrington. An announcement was awaited.
