Here's how the early progress of the Millennium Fund was reported late last century!

Millennium update!

Back to Book Launch

Progress is good on the Millennium front. The book is in its advanced stage of planning and is looking good!

We thank all those who have contributed their time, given us permission to publish their photographs, and helped us with the history of the Eversdens.

We are in the last stages of research so if anyone has any information or photographs for consideration please let one the the members of the group know before the end of the month. You can contact us through this Web Site. We will consider everything but cannot guarantee publication of all that comes our way.

The fund members are a team. However one member has to be singled out due to her immense effort and talent at this stage, Lindi Wood has taken on so much on our behalf. For her efforts we thank her! It is a daunting task. Some photographs are unsuitable for our purposes, some will not clearly reproduce, plus a number of other technical matters that dog our footsteps. Inevitably there are things that will be left out. To those who have shared with us and do not see their item in print we apologise.

The group have had the privilege of a viewing the first draft. The book will be issued later in the year. Look out for it! Its a cracker!

Eversden Millennium Fund.

Formed in 1997 under the guidance of Mary Green a band of volunteers met to discuss what could be done to mark the passing of the millennium in the villages of Great and Little Eversden.

1997. Autumn. A lot of hard work began in organising events to raise funds. The first being our very first 'Auction of promises'.

1998. Spring. An excellent 'Barn dance' added to the fun and the funds. Also our stall at the 'Oxfam Walk'. Summer. Many kind volunteers 'opened their gardens' to public view, an event which was combined with a wonderful 'Wedding Dress Exhibition'. Autumn. Our first 'quiz' was organised in the village hall followed by another 'Auction of Promises'.

1999. The year of the 'great ballot' in the two villages. Residents were encouraged to vote for their choice of how the funds would be spent. The result was that a book be produced together with photographs of our villages. Summer. Our second 'Barndance' was enjoyed by all. Autumn. Another 'quiz' and a showing of the unexpurgated version of the Eversdens video filmed by Anglia TV.

2000 The amount raised is just under £9,500! This is thanks to many kind and helpful people. We do not have the room to mention you all, we simply give our grateful thanks!

Wait! We haven't finished yet! Eversden is part of the 'Oxfam Walk'. There will be a cake stall manned by our merry workers on 21st May 2000. Support us this day in anyway you can!
