MICHAEL MALING was born and grew up in Little Eversden. His parents, Julie and Pete, live here still. Big brother, Richard, lives in Scotland and big sister, Sharon, in Spain. He attended The Meridian Primary School and Comberton Village College.  Mike left CVC in 1985. He went on to study Environmental Sciences at the University of East Anglia.

After a spell of 5 years working in Boston and New York, Mike (in August 2006) was appointed Winter Base Commander of the British Antarctic Survey team.

These are two of his wonderful pictures. Mike kept a personal diary (or blog) of his experiences which you are invited to visit. It is called 67° South. He left Antarctica on 2nd November 2007 and is heading home. When he has time, he plans to add another instalment to his blog - so keep visiting.
