Our own Pearly Queen?         From Jill Index

This splendid picture of Jill Marshall was taken at Orwell Show this year. Jill was flying the Eversden flag in the Royal Fancy Dress parade honouring the Queen's 80th birthday. It looks a lovely day.

Jill inherited the costume from her mother. No, she was not a Pearly Queen, she just enjoyed entering carnivals. The buttons are hand-made from oyster shells in Pearly tradition

Jill lives in Little Eversden (should you by chance be a stranger to The Eversdens) and is frequently seen around the villages with her trusty camera. Her marmalade is famous throughout the county and can be bought from the table outside her house in Harlton Road.

This is a rare sighting of Jill as the Pearly Queen.
