Website Report September 2010 Back to Tail Corn Reports
It would be really interesting to know who it is who looks in on the village website almost every day from New Zealand. There must be a strong connection. The server is Orcon Internet and the browser used is Apple Safari. Any ideas? Recently, as well, there has been a more local visitor who has spent several hours, sometimes split up in the day, looking at literally hundreds of pages and pictures. I can’t help but be curious. It pleases me that the website facilitates a connection across continents and seas. Most overseas visitors, of course, look in just now and again. The website becomes useful as well as nostalgically picturesque if local people look in regularly. I still get a kick out of perusing the information the counter provides. Had I the time I could check on how many of the 50 or so who visit most days visit every day! I do know there is a faithful nucleus. If every household in the villages had access to the internet and if there was a habit of logging on most days, the website could maybe adopt some more practical functions. Eversdens OnLine has not so far got more than a (big) toe-hold in the villages. It’s the perfect organ for quick “Wanted” notices, “For Sale” announcements, and for publicising events. If everyone who could join did join, it would be the end of those “Why wasn’t it advertised?” questions. More people are using “Add event” on the calendar. If I could be sure visitors routinely looked at the calendar, front page reminders wouldn’t be necessary and my occasional omissions would be less noticeable. I am still open to (polite) suggestions. Meanwhile, I keep finding subjects to snap. I am toying with a series on the walks around the Eversdens. Our wild-life pictures were enjoyed across the world! Still high on the Popular Pages list is the set of pictures of the football match between Little and Great. Who is still living the dream?
