Alan Norton and his son, Robert,
live in Little Eversden. Alan is Scout Leader
of Orwell Scouts. Over many years many Eversden
children have helped strengthen Orwell Scouts – sometimes outnumbering
Orwell children. The first girl to be accepted in the troop was an
Eversden girl. It was a two-year battle but she made it. At the moment there are only two
children who cross the hill for scout meetings. Do Eversden youngsters
know what’s on offer? |

This year is a wonderful year for scouting. Thursday 22nd February 2007 marks Founder’s Day and is the 150th anniversary of Lord Baden-Powell’s birth. By way of celebration this year there will be mass camping weekends, jamborees, and all sorts of scouting fun and adventure all over the country. The 5000 Cambridgeshire scouts will be playing a full part. Why not email Alan (click) and be part of this great scouting year. |

The recent tree-planting event was part of this programme. Turner’s Wood can be seen from the top of the bridleway that starts at the phone box in Little Eversden. One day it will be a great wood of English native trees. Some of our youngsters planted it and will see it begin to mature. It is one of one hundred brand new woods being planted by scouts this year. |
