St Mary's Tower 14th November 2008                                               Back to The Eversdens Scene Index

Work on St Mary's tower is nearing completion. All being well the next pictures will show the reinstatement of the weather vane freshly gilded. Some of the details of craftsmanship will be too far away to appreciate once the scaffolding is down. Here are a few.

It's been a long stint for the men of Baker's of Danbury. They have seen our Summer and our Autumn and, two weeks ago, just got down off the tower before a snow storm swept across from Huntingdon. The morning of 14th November, however, was hot:  25 degrees on the sunny side of the tower.

If you can, take your chance to have a word in passing before they leave. They are doing the village proud. (Ed.)
