St Mary's restoration gets underway     1st July 2008                                   Back to The Eversdens Scene Index

Visitors to the website who do not live nearby will barely recognise St Mary's now work has started on the massive and costly task of restoration. All the lead has now been removed and the roof of the tower would be open to the sky but for the corrugated iron cover on the scaffolding. The memorial weather cock has now gone away to be renovated. Terry Sawyer of Bakers of Danbury Ltd took the excellent shots around the base of the small spire. Bakers are still assessing the extent of the decay. They are going to be in the village "for months" and are delighted to discuss their work.
