to The
Eversdens Scene Index This walk heads eastwards through the Village Hall car park. You can follow it on the plan if you print it. Some of the paths are unrecognisable as such at this stage in the farming year. Parts of it will be muddy after rain. Sunday 17th October was a perfect day for walking. The walk is 5.32 miles and takes about 2 hours (and a bit). It strays into Toft territory and traverses Comberton Golf Course in 2 places. There are 2 stretches of fast road. The photographs show the walk returning along Great Eversden High Street rather than across the fields as shown on the plan. The route across the fields is shown at the start of the Great Eversden Inner Ring Walk pictures. This walk has several long, straight lines. Glancing backwards is the best way to convince yourself you are getting anywhere. The golfers are pleasant or grumpy depending on the quality of their last shot (is that the word?). It is reassuring to know that walkers have priority but it is possible that straying from the appointed line nullifies this protocol. As far as the appointed line is concerned, if you start it correctly and stay straight across the golf course (200 yards) with a water hazard to your left, you reach the next section of the footpath unscathed. Here we go. (DF) (With dial-up some pictures may take up to 15 seconds to load first time.) |
