There is discussion about doing more to guide visitors round our village walks. As an experiment I have tried to describe a walk I have provisionally called the Great Eversden Inner Ring. A convenient place to start this circular walk is at the kissing-gate across the road from the Village Hall. You can follow it on the plan if you print it. This walk is 2 miles (about 40 minutes) and is nearly all flat and in straight lines! It strays into Little Eversden by a few yards and crosses the main road through the villages twice. A short stretch of it is along the most dangerous (for walkers) bit of the High Street where you have to take to the long grass if a car comes. My plan is to "do" an Eversdens Outer Ring Walk shortly. Any other suggestions? You may also like to furnish me with field and footpath names or any other (short) snippets of information for the notes. If you are looking for a little project, how about a pictorial sketch map of this walk? Visitors might appreciate leaflets of Eversden walks. (DF) |
