Village Picnic on The Wedding Day 29th April 2011                                       Click for Eversden Events Index
The Royal Wedding was respite from news of the troubles in the Middle East and of tornados in America. The morning was spent by 2 billion people watching the pageantry of William and Kate's wedding. A good Eversdens crowd turned up at the recreation ground in the afternoon for a village picnic! I had to miss the event but Shelagh Bidwell took her camera along and caught these images of local people celebrating in the simplest but most traditional way. It turned cool but  stayed dry in spite of the forecast. We do need rain - but not on that Friday afternoon. Will the children pictured here see William crowned? Will they one day be saying "Come and look at these pictures of your grannie on the King and Queen's wedding day!"? (DF)
