Annual footpath walk, tree-planting, and the recreation ground afternoon                             Back to Eversden Events Pictured

The 10th November 2007 was a busy day in the Eversdens. A hardy band gathered to walk the footpaths. A hardier group planted trees near the water towers. And the recreation ground was open for teas, stalls and some hardy car-washing.

The walkers divided up to share out the footpaths. Just one of the walks is pictured. Lunch at the Wheatsheaf was the reward.

Local scouts were among the tree-planters. Schoolchildren have been planting all week. 2000 trees will be placed in this first phase of Church Farm Wood - the second wood (click) to be planted this century in the Eversdens. A Woodland Trust initiative (click). Incidentally, Orwell urgently need a new Cub Leader. Any takers? Contact Alan Norton.

More of our local scouts risked hot-aches washing cars in the recreation ground car park to raise money for the Rec. There were cups of tea and cakes, too, together with varied stalls. A bleak day was made jolly.

A busy village day.
